Colorado Buzz: Wine Pro Recognized, Best Farmers Market, and Donated Pork

By Denver Eater The Infinite Monkey Theorem CEO and winemaker Ben Parsons has been recognized by the Wine Enthusiast community as one of "America's Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers." Parsons was selected for his unique, urban approach to wine making and also for his focus on approachable and eco-friendly wine drinking by pioneering wine in cans, kegs and on tap. The Boulder Farmers Market, the area's premier growers-only seasonal market was announced as Best Farmers Market on USA TODAY's 10Best Farmers Markets list. A panel of food and travel experts, including Bernadine Prince (president of Farmers Market Coalition), Eric Grossman (food writer), Megy Karydes (travel writer), M. Linda Lee (former editor for Michelin Travel Publications), Akila McConnell (The Road Forks), Larry Olmsted (USA Today food writer) and Kim Sunee (food writer), narrowed down the field to their top 20 farmers markets, and for the past four weeks, the public has voted daily for their favorites. The market is open Wednesdays from 4 to 8 p.m. (until October 7) and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (until November 22). Tender Belly, Colorado's popular purveyor of pork, recently donated 6,320 lbs. of product to The Wild Animal Sanctuary to to help feed rescued animals. The Wild Animal Sanctuary has been rescuing exotic wildlife and endangered species since 1980. The sanctuary is currently home to more than 290 lions, tigers, bears, (oh my!) jaguars, leopards, mountain lions, lynx, bobcats, servals, wolves and other wildlife.
